Bookshop, Baby, and Beach 7.09

Welcome back!
It's been a while...maybe not for you, but for me. Have fun with these pictures.

CHRISTIAN BOOKSTORE
This is what I look like volunteering at our new Christian Bookstore in Pafos, called Inspirations. It's so much fun!

BABY DEDICATION
Leading worship at Calvary Chapel Cyprus is such a blessing.
The happy couple with the new addition: Ricci, Josiah James, and Claire.
We had a time of sharing what God put on our hearts for Ricci and Claire and their new journey with a kid...I shared Psalm 127..."Sons are a heritage from the Lord...blessed is the man whose quiver is full."
Claire is a natural. Such a beautiful Mommy.
David shared wisdom from God's Word. It looks like Josiah is actually attentive...probably not, but it looks like it.
Gathering around to pray for Josiah.
Tim was able to anoint him with oil as we all prayed that he would grow into a strong man of God.
It's amazing how new parents just radiate. Even with lack of sleep, Ricci and Claire are shining.

KAYAKING
Tim lifeguards while Emma goes out on her maiden voyage.
Emma and Dan Paul.
Emma and I are totally in sync. She did a great job following, as I led us around the bay.
Sunblock...Sunhat...Sunglasses...Sunshine...
We had so much fun!!!

I thank the Lord for opportunities to take a little break and enjoy His creation!!!
I hope you enjoyed the photos. --Lindsey

Just to say hello.

Hi everyone,

I am sitting on my bed with worship song sheets spread everywhere...prayerfully picking songs for Sunday. It's only Tuesday, but I get to drive to Limassol tomorrow with the girls for their ballet summer school, and I have practice with Ollie on Thursday...So, all that to say, the sooner I can get them in order, the better.

I have been blessed also to contribute to the powerpoint on Sundays. We used a blue background on the slides previously, and now we get to use pictures from all over Cyprus and other places. I've had much positive feedback from everyone. Like me, many others feel more drawn to Jesus by seeing His creation with the words of the songs on the screen. Photography is a passion of mine, so it's been a blessing to use it as worship at Calvary Chapel Cyprus.

The church flat has been used for guests, and I get to be guest coordinator. Earlier today I folded up some sheets that I had washed, getting ready for our next couple, who arrive this Friday. God has prepared me through being a resident assistant (RA) at Point Loma Nazarene University and an RA at Potter's Field Ranch, too. I love how He knows EVERYTHING! Just remember, each chapter is preparation for the next one...so exciting!

Please join with me in prayer...

A team from Calvary Chapel Skyline is praying about coming over here for about 10 days early August to serve alongside Tim, Darlene, and all of us at Calvary Cyprus. Please pray for their tickets. It can be quite expensive, BUT where the Lord guides, the Lord provides. Amen?

Then, mid-August, I get to make my first treck EVER to Europe! No, flying through London doesn't count=). August 14th, I fly from Larnaca, Cyprus to Frankfurt, Germany. There, I will stay with friends at the Bible College in Seigan, Germany, for a couple nights. Then, I think a van full of us will drive southeast to Austria for the Calvary Chapel Missions Conference! I'm so excited!!! I will return to Cyprus August 24th.

I'm looking forward to just meet other people with similar hearts in ministry, see a new place, and most of all, learn more about God's heart. I believe it will be a time of refreshing.

As most of you know, I will be flying back to LA November 6th, arriving the 7th. My heart is at peace, but it's going to be SOOOOOO hard to leave my new family here in Cyprus. Can you pray for my heart? That God will guide my every step, and that He will raise up those who need to be raised up after I leave.

The best part is that God doesn't need us. He could use a tree or rock to get the job done, but since He loves us so much, He has chosen to use the foolish things, and I am so thankful.

Please pray for Tim and Darlene as they give so much to the ministry. Pray that God will fill them afresh with His Holy Spirit and that they would be encouraged everyday in His perfect plan.

Lord bless all of you. If you read all of this...good job. I guess, I just wanted to sit down and have a chat...you were with 'chattee' as I was the 'chatter.' Haha. I love You JESUS!

Love Lindsey

Ballet Highlights 7.3.09

Emma & Abby danced beautifully!
Their performance was at an outdoor theater in Limassol. Emma danced in "Cloud 9," which was so picturesque with the gentle breeze and their costumes. They really looked like angels.
In both of these pictures, Emma is the second from the left.
Such a great little dancer!
Above, Abby was one of the Sylphs in "La Sylphide."
This dance was called "Grand Tarantella." Abby's solo included high kicks - very impressive.

"Let them praise His Name with dancing."
--Psalm 149:3

Waves =) 6.14.09

I'm so glad Jesus made waves for us to enjoy!
Typical surfing attire...the rash guard saves on sunscreen, and the hat saves my squinty eyes ;D
Trash...yuck! It's a pretty clean beach, but trash just flies in from the shore sometimes.
What in the world am I paddling for?
Oh, there's the wave.
Longboards are so fun! (I REALLY like my fish, though)
Epic kick-out. I hope you all sense the fantabulous sarcasm...haha!
On duty.
Emma & Emma's spa in the tidepools.
Hutchinson's.
Ollie is amped 24/7. I love his perspective on life...always finds the brighter side =).
Hutchinson duet.
Gorgeous girls...simply gorgeous...love the masks.
Weeeeeeeee!
A crowded day at Helios...haha.
Ollie is a natural.
The softop surfboard has traveled the world and made its home in Cyprus.
Looks like Pipeline being so close to shore.
Dan Paul joins the lineup.
Sugar donuts.
Fully locked in!
Getting out of the water at Helios is one of the hardest parts of surfing here. The HARDEST part is paddling out, but it's sooo worth it.
Tim is officially a SURFER!
Making it look easy.
Loading the boards.
Summer takes on a new form of ministry. God has really opened up doors of ministry being at the beach and in the water. It's really cool to watch God work, and yes, of course, I don't mind the surfing part =D.

Turkish North 6.8.09

My first trip to the NORTH!

As many of you know, Cyprus is a divided island. I live on the south side, occupied by Greece, but not part of Greece, per say. Cyprus is it's own country. Then, the north is occupied by Turkey. There is a UN buffer zone that requires a passport on the way through. We have the last divided capital in the world, Nicosia. It was a blessing to take a day with the family to visit.
Road trip.
Turkish flags...you see the big one on the mountain?
We are now entering a totally different country...even the addresses are 'Turkey.'
I like how they spell Taxi...it makes sense.
It reminds me so much of southern California in parts.
Minarets for the call to prayer to Allah. Please pray for this land. Also, pray that Cyprus can once again be united.
Mattox fam!
Ready for adventure.
Emma and her Papa.
Turkish box shop!
This is mine...he is carving "Acts 20:24" into it, just the scripture passage. The verse actually reads: "However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace."
If you've ever seen National Treasure 2, these boxes are the like the one desk Nicolas Cage had to 'crack the code' on...there is a very cool way to open them, which is about 4 steps...so fun!
Beautiful lamps in the shop.
Intricate and ornate.
Me and the girls!
Mattox fam. Love them!
Asking for directions.
More flags.
Looks like Half Dome, doesn't it?
This was a cool spiral mountain.
Horses just roaming the streets and fields.
They were pretty. It made me miss my Molly. Thanks Mom for taking care of my girl.

Salamis
And when they [Paul & Barnabas] arrived in Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. They also had John as [their] assistant. - Acts 13:5
Almost looks real...
I'm a column!
Perspective. This must have been magnificent in its day.
Darlene catching up on her ancient history in the amphitheater.
Old Baths. Hi Darlene!
Paintings...
Mosaics still in tact...
The architecture is mind-boggling...and they didn't have cranes and forklifts.
I was so thankful to get to visit Salamis...another piece of the Bible come to life!

I hope you all enjoyed your trip to the Turkish Republic of Cyprus.
